 Ans: When Rudolf was acting as king of the state of Ruritania, one day Sapt brought him a letter. In the letter he was asked to come to summer house because the writer of the letter wanted to tell him some secrets about his own person and the throne. After detailed discussion they agreed that Rudolf should go to summer house and Sapt should also go with him and wait outside. They set out for summer house at half past eleven; Rudolf took with him a pistol, along knife and a bull's eye. On reaching the gate Sapt stayed outside, Rudolf followed the instructions given in the letter and soon reached the door of the summer housc Madame Mauban took him to the room and closed the door.

She told Rudolf that this letter was dictated by Duke. To assure him further she told him that his men followed him day and night and that they would murder him. She also told him that the Duke intended to arrest Sapt and Fritz after his murder and to marry princess. Thus he wished to become king. While lady was telling Rudolf about the room where king was imprisoned. Duke's three hirelings arrived there. One of them came to the door and called Rassendyll by name. Madame warned Rudolf not to listen them. They asked him to open, the door. He replied from inside the room that the door opened to outside. He promised that he would not fire at them first. One of them offered Rudolf fifty thousand pounds and a safe conduct to the fromter if he agreed to leave Ruritania immediately. Rassendyll took hold of an iron table by legs and using it as a shield rushed
at them. Two of them fled away, while detached came out and fired at him. Rudolf hit him with a shot return and ran to the ladder. At last he came to the gate where Sapt was waiting for him. Rassendyll asked Sapt to hurry back them listen to the interesting story of iron tea table. Thus Rassendyll escaped the trap just by good luchk.
