The Marshall who had not yet seen Rudolf told girl that king lay wounded in the castle. She replied that she had just seen him with Fritz. This put the princess in great confusion. He requested her not to be deceived by a man who had similar features as the king himself. This funny situation continued for a few minutes. At last Rudolf told princess that he was able to understand the whole situation. She bore the shock bravely and scarified her love at the alter of her duty.
