Rudolf too saw the princess, but on suggestion from Fritz he did himself behind the hedge, to hide his real identity. Suddenly a farm girl who had followed them without their knowledge cried out to the princess, Madame the king is here in bushes.
The Marshall who had not yet seen Rudolf told girl that king lay wounded in the castle. She replied that she had just seen him with Fritz. This put the princess in great confusion. She did not know whrther to believe the girl or to believe the Marshall. In ue meanwhile Sapt too came out riding from the re and seeing the princess tried make the of a bad job.

But when princess saw Rudolf she started crying ith a mixed feeling of joy and fear. She jumped down from the carriage and bent over him. At last she said that he was not the real king. He requested her not to be deceived by a man who had similar features as the king himself. This funny situation continued for a few minutes. At last Rudolf told princess that he was able to understand the whole situation. She bore the shock bravely and scarified her love at the alter of her duty.
